Well I just had my first play, and so far it's ok. It's goint to take time to adjust to having to face people to attack etc
Rolled a demo fire dmg+melee
Had my ass handed to me a few times, and I haven't even reached the city yet.
Malice was taken QQ

Well I've leveled to 10, (Guardian) and I must say that the game has a strong feel from WoW. The American Servers are down for 5 hours at the moment and should be back up and running around 10 PM EST. So no one is missing anything.
Leveling and questing is far better than WoW, it has a quest feel like Guild Wars EOTN & Factions. Therefore if you enjoyed Guild Wars quests you will enjoy the questing here.
On a side note: Some classes will have difficulty in the starting area's and there are plenty of naked breasts to conquer, I mean look at.
Now that I'm aware of the over need for spec's I'll be building a new PC just to run the game at maximum levels, if PC gaming is your hobby this game is worth it. They have incorporated some of the best idea's from multiple MMO's in general with still more to come.

I set mine to medium, 2xAA and running full screen @ 1680x1050...smooth as silk. Great graphics, they shit all over any current MMO.
Aion is the only likely challenger, as WAR is being aimed at the mass market, so it'll gave GW gfx at best.

Got my CE edition today!!! If ya got the CE edition, turn towards the end for some nice eye candy. (Playboy type shot)
I like the feel and flow of the game as well. The quests and cutscenes are awesome. The richness of the environments, the attention to details are so well developed.
Now I have to wait on the servers to come back up. I got up to level 17 before I head back out to the beach to smack some people around. (with backup of course)

From what I've heard, there are problems that should have been addressed before launch. Would it be wise to wait a month or two before buying AoC?

The biggest problem so far have been player created ones.
For example: There was a PvP based guild (A multi game guild that was a large WoW Guild) that found an exploit to level to 80 in one day. That was why they were shutting things down for a while to figure out what they were doing. There were also some other minor exploits mostly to the demise of innocent bystanders not in the know (insert certain guild name here) aligned players in PvP.
Most of the PvP Servers are in a mess, this has no relation to the game itself just the Guilds doing the harassments.
Other bugs seem to be related to people running the game with computers that simply can't handle the game. It's a huge game and runs flawless on good "up to date" current systems.
As it is now, my desktop system does not quite meet requirements but it plays well enough.
P4 288 equiv (Should be 300 or higher)
1 Gig of Ram (2 recommended)
Nvidia 8600 512MB (Nvidia 8800 recommended)
XP Professional (Should be Vista)
My new computer will have dual Nvidia 9800's new mother board etc.
It's been 4 years since I purchased my last computer so I needed one anyways.
There are a lot of BIG Guilds coming over from other games. DAOC, WoW, E2, GW, AO, UO, EvE, etc, etc...
One last thing, there were a lot of people not following instructions on the early release program offered and blamed it on Funcom. This is a lie, the early release instructions were very clear on who can get into the servers. People were not following instructions and are spreading lies about bugs because of it. Heck I got in on early release as of last Friday so people could get in if only they had "Read the &^%$ing Manual."

The exploiting to 80 thing was by Ebonlore, they don't have a presence in WoW. They have a pretty infamous past with exploits in EQ2, Vanguard, Shadowbane etc and the whole guild was banned earlier. They'll get banned soon in AoC, don't worry http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ebonlore
And regarding other problems, there are still a huge amount of issues relating to authentication, patching and performance(only on certain hardware like AMD multi cores). While the game is excellent and if you've bought it and you aren't having problems, thats great - for someone looking to buy a game, I'd advise them to wait 2-3 weeks. Most of the technical issues and exploits will get fixed, classes will be better balanced at low levels and ganking/griefing will slow down once people see that there's a lot of cool stuff to do at high levels.

This was an announcement posted earlier
Quote:
At the moment pre-order accounts, which are not part of the Early Access program or have not yet registered a valid retail-key, are put into frozen status. This is because only Early Access customers and those with a registerd retail-key are actually allowed to play on the servers.
These pre-order accounts are also blocked from accessing the forums as they are only available for customers with currently active game accounts (which right now the pre-order accounts without a valid retail-key are not)
This is actually correct behaviour of the billing system. As soon as the servers have been opened for launch, these customers will have to enter a valid retail-key in order to unfreeze their accounts and get access to the game servers and the forums.
We will open read access to the forums for everybody soon. But it will always be that only customers with valid game accounts will be allowed to write posts and engage in discussions with the community.

Ok picture a large muscular man from Scottland with half of his head shaved and the back hair red and long and a goatee on his chin with deep blue eyes. Wearing a slaves loin cloth, sandals, bandanna, and crocodile jerkin vest, wielding an African Tribal Uga boga spear walking through a Philippine Island Jungle.
Thats what it looks like at level 10.
There are better pictures on the net already of Age of Conan that do the game justice.

maybe @ Guildwarsguru, but I'm afraid there's going to be an even bigger crowd antcipating TLJ3 than there were with TLJ2: Dreamfall, and Dreamfall was nominated most anticipated game of the year at E3 the year before it was released.
:3
Interrestingly enough, TLJ2 and 3 have been funded by the Norwegian government, and will continue to recive money from them, contrary to Conan.

I've been reading AOC official forum and I'm not convinced that much of the community is over 17, dunno maybe I'm wrong. M rate doesn't mean much I guess. Rather different in game though, which is nice.

I'm still trying out different classes.
Demo - My ass gets handed to me in any 1v2, does reasonable dmg.
Barbarian - Plows through 4 easily, but I really don't like melee.
HoX - tba

There was an age poll on those forums. 100+ idiots actually put they're under 12 i believe. Tons more < 18. Whether it's honest or not, idk - but there are people>
